Audience Research

The type of audience that watch the film genre ‘film noir’ is between the age 20 - 40 years old, the reason for this is that men aged 20 – 40 like films like this as they have a lot of action in and this is what men that age like to see in movies. Film noir movies were mostly made from the early 1940s to the late 1950s in the United States, and they were usually filmed in black-and-white. In the film noir genre when it first started they were attracting the male side more than the female side because the film noir has a lot of violence and sex scenes in it, a stereotypical man like those type of films. So film noir now a day is aimed at people who like crime and investigation.

The film ‘D.O.A was published in 1950’s. The more attended audience for this film was high-class workingmen aged around 30 – 40 year old. As some people couldn’t afford to go and watch a film in those days. Sin city was released in 2005; this film was targeted at people of the younger age from 20 – 30 year old. Male and female would want to see these as well as more females are becoming interested in film noir, as they didn’t used to be interested years ago. Over the years film noir has change for the audience perspective because now people are expecting a lot out of this type of film for example to use more special effects and more action, this is apart of attracting the audience theses days.

Film Noir

These shots are the title sequences from the movie 'D.O.A' as you can see the first thing you see is the movie name 'D.O.A'. I like the font that the designer has used for the titles as it is like a shadow effect. The main characters are on the first title as they are the most important people in the movie. The title sequence ends with the producer. This title sequence gives you all of the information you could possibly want as it gives you the film title and the names of the production team.
